Knights Online

A complete overview of the fantasy MMORPG that defined a generation of online PvP combat — from its Korean roots to worldwide cult status.

What Is Knights Online?

Knights Online (also marketed as Knight Online World) is a 3D fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by MGame Corporation and Noah System in South Korea. First released in Korea in 2004, it was published in North America and Europe by K2 Network, reaching its peak popularity between 2006 and 2012 with millions of registered accounts worldwide.

Set in the fictional continent of Eslant, the game pits two civilizations against each other in an eternal war: the human nation of El Morad and the orc civilization of Karus. Players choose a faction and progress through a rich PvP-centric world involving clan warfare, castle sieges, and large-scale national battles.

Knights Online was one of the first MMORPGs to make free-to-play the default model (in some regions), relying on cosmetic and convenience items sold through an in-game cash shop. This ahead-of-its-time business model helped it build a massive global player base, with particularly strong communities in Turkey, USA, and Brazil.

From Korea to the World

Knights Online’s journey from a Korean development studio to a worldwide cult phenomenon spanned two decades of evolution.

KingofKnight.com Founded

Our site launches as a comprehensive database resource. Using PHP and MySQL, we begin indexing character data, item stats, zone maps, and clan information from active game servers.

2008–2010

Community & Database Growth

The site expands to include 37 player guides, real-time clan rankings with auto-generated charts, detailed monster drop tables, and an interactive zone mapping system.

2011–2013

Game Decline & Private Servers Rise

As official server populations dwindle due to pay-to-win concerns and aging graphics, the private server community grows. Dedicated players keep the game alive on independently run servers.

2014

KingofKnight.com Goes Offline

The site enters maintenance mode. All data is archived and preserved at /old/. The database and PHP backend are frozen at this point in time.

2015–Present

Private Server Era

Knights Online continues through a thriving private server community. Servers like USKO, MYKO, and dozens of international variants maintain active player bases. The game’s core PvP formula remains timeless.

KingofKnight.com Returns

We’re back. The site is relaunched as a historical archive and information resource, preserving our original database while celebrating the game’s legacy.

The World of Eslant

The continent of Eslant has been torn apart by the eternal war between two civilizations. Every player inherits this conflict the moment they create a character.

🛡 El Morad — The Human Kingdom

El Morad is a feudal human civilization built on chivalric tradition, divine faith, and arcane scholarship. The El Morad capital sits at the heart of fertile plains protected by towers and disciplined knight orders. El Morad society values courage, honor, and the pursuit of magical knowledge.

Human classes tend toward tactical versatility: Warriors in full plate, Priests wielding holy light, Mages calling divine fire, Archers striking with deadly precision, and Rogues vanishing into shadow. El Morad strategy often favors organized group play, coordinated heals, and disciplined formation fighting.

Known Zones: El Morad Castle, Luferson Castle, Colony Zone, Ronark Land Base

🗡 Karus — The Orc Nation

Karus is an ancient orc civilization forged in fire and blood. Where El Morad builds institutions, Karus builds warriors. The Karus nation operates on a hierarchy of strength, with powerful shamans and war chiefs commanding legions of battle-hardened fighters.

Karus characters lean into raw power: axe-wielding Warriors, storm-calling Mages, shadow Rogues with poison blades, bow-armed Archers, and Priests channeling dark healing energies. Karus players are stereotyped as aggressive zergers who overwhelm opponents through numerical superiority and brute force.

Known Zones: Karus Castle, Karus Village, Ronark Land, Bifrost

Contested Zones: Bifrost, Ronark Land, Lunar Valley, and the Chaos Arena are neutral zones where both factions clash for resources, experience, and glory. Winning control of these zones provides powerful buffs to the victorious nation.

Master Your Role

Both factions share the same five class archetypes, each with distinct skill trees, playstyles, and roles in group PvP.

Warrior

The backbone of any party. Warriors specialize in heavy melee combat with swords, axes, or polearms. Two specializations emerge at higher levels: One-Hand + Shield (defensive tank) and Two-Hand (offensive DPS). Warriors with massive HP pools soak damage in the front line while dealing consistent physical punishment.

Melee DPS Tank Front-line

Archer

Masters of ranged combat who maintain damage from a safe distance. Archers specialize in rapid fire for sustained DPS or cross-bow builds for burst damage. Key skills include Pierce (armor reduction), Aerial Shot (aerial attacks), and Detect (reveal stealthed rogues). Excellent for kiting and zone control.

Ranged DPS Kiting Detect

Mage

Glass-cannon casters dealing the highest burst damage in the game. Mages split into Fire (AoE burst, chain lightning), Ice (crowd control, freeze), and Lightning builds. A skilled Mage can single-handedly swing a battle, but paper-thin defenses demand positioning mastery and healer support.

Burst DPS AoE Crowd Control

Priest

The support class that every serious party must have. Priests provide healing, resurrection, buffs, and debuff curing. Specialized battle priests can also deal respectable damage with hammers. In PvP, a Priest keeping their team alive is often the difference between victory and defeat. Highly sought-after and respected.

Healer Support Buff/Debuff

Rogue

Stealth-based assassins who excel at eliminating priority targets. Rogues specialize in Assassination (stealth + burst combo) or Dagger (rapid sustained damage). The Stealth skill allows invisible movement, enabling ambushes, scouting, and target priority kills. Rogues who get the drop on a Mage or Priest can end a fight before it begins. Requires skill, timing, and situational awareness.

PvP, Clans & Events

Knights Online’s endgame revolves entirely around player conflict. These systems kept millions of players engaged for years.

National Points (NP)

Killing enemy-faction players awards National Points. NP rankings determine the top warriors of each server, and high NP players gain prestige items and server recognition. Dying to enemies costs NP.

Lunar War

A scheduled PvP event where El Morad and Karus armies clash in designated zones. The winning faction receives server-wide buffs (experience, drop rates) for a set period. Organized clans often decide the outcome.

Castle Siege

Weekly events where clans compete to capture and hold castle flags. The defending and attacking clan clash in instanced castle grounds. Victory brings a castle tax on all trades and enormous prestige.

Clan System

Clans are the social core of KO. Create or join a clan, earn clan experience through PvP and quests, and compete in the weekly Clan Ranking. Top clans become server legends with their own symbols and histories.

Chaos Arena

A free-for-all deathmatch zone where players of all factions can fight each other. No NP loss here, making it a popular training ground for PvP skills without risking your national point total.

Bifrost

A special event zone where relics spawn and must be captured by faction teams. Bifrost rewards the winning faction with experience points and rare item drop bonuses. High-level coordination is key.
